Refah Fares is an Educator and Social Worker grounded in strong academic preparation, holding a Bachelor of Social Work (2017) from the University of Calgary and a Social Work Diploma (2013) from Mount Royal University. With over ten years of service across mainstream classrooms and community settings, she has supported children, youth, and families through inclusive, strengths-based practice.
Her training and professional development encompass core areas of inclusive education and child welfare: implementing IEPs and differentiated supports in general education; classroom engagement and behavior support; child protection and risk/safety planning; disability support coordination and service planning; case management and progress monitoring; and culturally responsive, family-centred practice.
Refah’s expertise includes one-to-one learning support in mainstream schools, adapting materials to learners’ needs, promoting social-emotional growth, and collaborating closely with teachers and parents to track progress. She has extensive experience guiding families to access services, facilitating psychoeducation and skills groups, and advocating for children with diverse needs, including newcomer families and students with special educational needs (SEN) while fostering calm, inclusive environments where every child can participate and thrive.
At TDCC, she partners with educators, therapists, and parents in the general setting to individualize supports and measure growth across academic and social-emotional goals.
