Educational Psychologist

Kipa Shrestha is a seasoned Educational Psychologist with a passion for helping individuals overcome psychological challenges and achieve their full potential. With a Masters in Educational Psychology from the University of Pretoria and a PostGraduate Certificate in Education from the University of the Free State, Kipa has a strong educational background that enables her to provide valuable insights and solutions to clients.

Kipa is currently pursuing her PhD in Psychology with special focus on neurodevelopmental disorders. Her nationally published master’s thesis takes a deep look at parental needs with regards to educational psychology reports, and her PhD thesis uncovers indigenous knowledge and experiences of intellectual disability and its impact on parental well-being.

Kipa has received specialised training in Brain Working Recursive Therapy and Hands on Autism, making her an expert clinician in both therapies. She also possesses expertise in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Gestalt Therapy, Psychodynamics, Bio-ecological Systems Approaches, and the Transactional Neuropsychological Model. Her knowledge in these areas enables her to provide holistic and tailored support to clients with neurodevelopmental disorders, including ASD, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, and behavioral and emotional challenges.

Kipa has an extensive 10 years of work experience in both clinical and educational settings. Her comprehensive approach to psychological assessments ensures that clients receive an accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan. Kipa is a dedicated and compassionate professional, committed to helping individuals thrive in all aspects of their lives.

At TDCC, Kipa works holistically with the client, their families, and educators and other therapists to ensure that all assets of support are utilized whilst uncovering and creating new assets and resources throughout the therapeutic journey. Her passion for psychological assessment as an essential tool for support has enabled her to stay up to date with assessment tools designed to guide and facilitate growth in individuals. Kipa’s psychotherapeutic approaches to intervention include therapeutic techniques that are time and cost effective, whilst maximizing on the individual’s overall well- being and optimizing functionality.
