Free Webinar: ADHD and Associated Disruptive Behaviors
Why do some children with ADHD find it so hard to manage their emotions and behaviour, and what can the adults around them do to help?
The Developing Child Centre (TDCC) will explore these questions in a free live webinar, ADHD and Associated Disruptive Behaviours, on Friday, 20 November 2026, led by Educational Psychologist and Intervention Specialist Praveen A.V.
This webinar helps parents and educators look beyond a child’s behaviour to understand what is driving it. Children with ADHD are often described as “naughty”, “defiant” or “not listening”, when many are struggling with impulse control, emotional regulation and attention in ways they cannot yet manage on their own.
Praveen A.V. will explain how ADHD can affect the way a child responds to everyday situations, from homework and transitions to classroom routines and family life. He will share practical, evidence-based strategies that families and schools can use to reduce challenging behaviour and build a child’s confidence and self-control.
The session is designed to be clear, practical and reassuring. Whether your child has a diagnosis or you are simply noticing patterns that concern you, you will leave with a better understanding and ideas you can try straight away.
Is challenging behaviour in children with ADHD intentional?
Often, it is not. ADHD can make it harder for a child to pause before acting, cope with frustration or shift between tasks. Understanding this helps adults respond with structure and support rather than punishment alone, which is more likely to lead to lasting change.
Objectives:
By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
Understand how ADHD influences behaviour. Learn how ADHD can affect a child’s behaviour, impulse control and emotional regulation, and why some reactions are harder for them to manage.
Identify triggers and underlying causes. Recognise common triggers and the reasons behind challenging behaviours, so you can respond to the cause rather than only the behaviour.
Apply practical, evidence-based strategies. Explore approaches that help manage behavioural challenges and support positive outcomes, both at home and in school.
