Buidling Resilience Program
The “Building Resilience Program” for children ages 8-12 years old is a comprehensive program designed to help young people develop the skills and abilities needed to navigate life’s challenges and build emotional and mental well-being. The program aims to empower children and teens to become more resilient, confident and self-assured, and to develop the coping mechanisms needed to manage stress and difficult situations. The program typically includes a combination of group sessions, individual coaching, and educational workshops.
The program includes a series of workshops, group sessions and individual coaching that focuses on developing emotional regulation skills, problem-solving and decision-making abilities, self-esteem, and positive relationships.
Throughout the program, young people are encouraged to develop a growth mindset and to take ownership of their mental and emotional well-being.
Objectives of the program:
Developing emotional regulation skills: teaching children and teens strategies to manage their emotions and respond to stress in a healthy way.
Enhancing problem-solving and decision-making abilities: equipping young people with the tools to navigate difficult situations and make sound choices.
Building self-esteem and self-worth: helping children and teens to recognize their strengths and value, and to feel confident in their abilities.
Fostering positive relationships: teaching young people how to build and maintain healthy relationships with family, friends, and peers.
Encouraging positive coping mechanisms: giving young people the skills to identify and use coping mechanisms such as mindfulness and meditation to reduce stress and anxiety.
Encourage young people to have a growth mindset: teaching young people to see challenges as opportunities for growth, and to not give up easily when faced with difficulties.
Empowerment: encouraging young people to take ownership of their mental and emotional well-being, and to recognize the importance of self-care.
About the practitioner:
Ataa Mohammad Atoun, an Educational Psychologist at The Developing Child Centre, brings over a decade of experience supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. She holds a Master’s degree in Community Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at UAE University. Fluent in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, Ataa has led counseling and wellbeing programs, provided psychological assessments, and specialized in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA).
With a strong background in training educators and collaborating with school leadership, Ataa is passionate about fostering environments where children thrive. Her expertise and multicultural perspective make her a vital part of TDCC’s commitment to inclusivity and holistic child development.
