An Introduction to Lego Therapy

Speech and Language Therapist Sima Khayat will take you through an evidence based approach that aims to develop social communication skills using the Lego Therapy.

This webinar is designed for  parents, caregivers, educators, practitioners, and advocates in helping children with developmental delays and communication difficulties.

Overview

Lego therapy is a form of play-based therapy that uses Lego building blocks as a tool to help children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other developmental disorders improve their social, communication, and problem-solving skills, social interaction, turn taking skills,  and the learning of new concepts

Research has shown that Lego therapy can be an effective intervention for children developmental journey.  A study published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders found that children who participated in Lego therapy sessions showed significant improvements in their social communication and problem-solving skills, compared to a control group who did not receive the therapy. Other studies have also found that Lego therapy can improve children’s attention, memory, and language skills.

Lego therapy can be used as a standalone intervention or as part of a comprehensive development plan for children with learning challenges. It can also be adapted for use with children with other developmental disorders, such as ADHD, Down syndrome, or developmental delays. It is an effective way to help children with autism spectrum disorder improve their social, communication, and problem-solving skills, and it is a fun, enjoyable activity that the children look forward to.
