Dyslexia & Dysgraphia Intervention Program

Structured, multisensory support that helps learners succeed

At The Developing Child Centre (TDCC) Abu Dhabi, we believe every learner can thrive with the right tools and strategies. Our Dyslexia and Dysgraphia Intervention Programme supports children and adults who have ongoing difficulties with reading, spelling and written expression as a result of a specific learning difficulty.

Using evidence-based, multisensory teaching, the programme builds core literacy skills, grows confidence and helps learners become more independent in their studies.

Who the programme is for

  • Children and adults with a formal diagnosis of dyslexia or dysgraphia
  • Ages 6 and above
  • Sessions offered one-to-one or in small groups
  • In-person sessions at our Abu Dhabi centre, for both individual and group learning
  • Online sessions, for one-to-one learning only

How the programme is structured

The programme follows the school year and runs in three phases:

  • Phase 1: September to December
  • Phase 2: January to March
  • Phase 3: April to June

Each phase includes:

  • 24 sessions in total
  • 2 sessions per week
  • 1.5 hours per session

This steady, focused schedule gives learners plenty of opportunity to practise, repeat and consolidate their skills over time.

What the intervention focuses on

Our sessions draw on internationally recognised, research-based programmes chosen to target the specific difficulties linked to dyslexia and dysgraphia:

  • Reading
  • Spelling
  • Written expression
    • Handwriting
    • Building sentences
    • Writing paragraphs
    • Writing essays

Our teaching combines auditory, visual and kinaesthetic (movement-based) learning to improve reading fluency, spelling accuracy and how learners organise their writing.

Baseline assessment and progress tracking

Each learner’s programme starts with a baseline assessment, so teaching can be tailored to their needs:

  • Baseline scores are taken from an existing psycho-educational report, or from an in-house screening assessment at our Abu Dhabi centre.
  • Progress is reviewed at the end of every phase.
  • Assessment tools include:
    • WRAT-5 (Wide Range Achievement Test, Fifth Edition)
    • WJ IV (Woodcock-Johnson IV)

We alternate between these tools to reduce the effect of repeated testing and give an accurate picture of progress over time.

Our commitment

TDCC Abu Dhabi is committed to high-quality intervention that targets the root causes of learning difficulties. Whether in person or online, sessions are led by trained specialists who understand how learners with dyslexia and dysgraphia think and learn. We work in partnership with families and schools so that progress in sessions leads to real improvements in the classroom and in everyday life.
