Parent and Child Relationship

Parenting is one of the hardest jobs there is, and many parents tell us they don’t always feel confident handling the challenges that come up.

At TDCC Abu Dhabi, we’re dedicated to helping parents build a happy, healthy family life through our parent-child relationship support. This service complements our wider range of therapies and interventions. Many parents we meet already know which strategies would help their child. The difficulty is putting them into practice consistently in the middle of busy family life. Parent coaching helps close that gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it. Our psychologists work with you and your child together, practising strategies proven to strengthen your relationship. Over time, this can lead to better behaviour and give you the confidence to parent in a calm, consistent and effective way.

You are the most important person in your child’s life, so it’s natural to want to feel confident as you make positive changes at home. Parent coaching gives you the chance to practise the strategies we’ve discussed, so you feel ready to handle challenges as they arise.

Does your child:

  • Refuse to do what adults ask
  • Struggle to manage their emotions
  • Get frustrated or angry easily
  • Get into frequent power struggles with you
  • Behave disruptively at home, at school or in childcare
  • Find it hard to connect with one or both parents
  • Argue often or show oppositional behaviour
  • Act aggressively towards parents, siblings or other children

Our Abu Dhabi team can help.

Parent-child relationship support aims to:

  • Strengthen the bond between parent and child
  • Improve your child’s listening skills
  • Help your child manage frustration and anger
  • Develop your child’s attention skills
  • Build your child’s self-esteem
  • Support parents in using positive, effective discipline
  • Help parents set realistic, age-appropriate expectations
