Transitional Program
Our Inclusion Bridging Programme is run in partnership with mainstream schools to help children with additional needs move gradually into the mainstream classroom. Each child’s move into full-time inclusion is carefully planned, coordinated and supervised.
The programme runs much like a regular mainstream class, with the added benefit of a high ratio of adults to pupils. Teaching follows the partner school’s curriculum, with extra focus on the key skills children need to take part fully in a mainstream classroom: independence, communication, social and emotional development, and managing their own behaviour. Every pupil has a learning passport (individual education plan), and we warmly encourage parents to be involved. Speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and ABA are provided during the school day, in small groups or one-to-one.
We track each pupil’s progress closely using the school’s own tracking and monitoring systems, standardised tests, and occupational therapy and speech and language therapy assessments.
Children join in with the wider school community in ways that suit their individual needs. They have plenty of opportunities to do this each week, and their time in mainstream increases step by step over the year.
Pupils take part in specialist lessons such as swimming, PE, music and Arabic, and join extracurricular activities (ECAs) where appropriate.
In Abu Dhabi, the programme operates [under the regulation of / in line with the requirements of] the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK). Working with the school, we can show each child’s progress against the school curriculum and their developmental and therapy goals.
The programme is ideal for any Abu Dhabi school that wants to support its students of determination meaningfully and appropriately, and that shares our commitment to genuine inclusion in its community.
