Sleep Assessment and Intervention Program
Supporting healthy sleep for children through (AUH) developmental, behavioral, and sensory-informed care
Sleep is essential to a child’s development, behavior, learning, and emotional well-being. At The Developing Child Centre (TDCC), our Sleep Assessment and Intervention Program is designed to support children experiencing sleep challenges whether related to sensory sensitivities, anxiety, developmental conditions, or behavioral patterns.
Led by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, occupational therapists, and pediatric specialists, our program identifies the root causes of sleep difficulties and implements personalized, family-centered interventions that promote healthy sleep habits.
Our program offers:
- Comprehensive sleep history intake and family interview
- Sleep diary review and behavioral sleep assessments
- Sensory profile evaluation and bedtime routine analysis
- Development of individualized sleep plans and strategies
- Parent coaching and caregiver training
- Collaboration with pediatricians or sleep specialists when needed
We support children experiencing:
- Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- Night wakings, early rising, or short sleep duration
- Bedtime resistance or anxiety at night
- Irregular or inconsistent sleep patterns
- Sleep disturbances linked to Autism, ADHD, or anxiety
- Sensory processing challenges affecting sleep regulation
Our professionals are trained in:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) – pediatric adaptations
- Sensory-based calming and regulation techniques
- Behavioral sleep interventions (graduated extinction, bedtime fading, positive routines)
- Parent-child interaction strategies for bedtime
- Sleep hygiene education tailored to neurodiverse children
- Use of sleep trackers, visual schedules, and relaxation tools
At TDCC, we believe in empowering families with practical, gentle, and effective sleep solutions that prioritize the child’s emotional and developmental needs. Our goal is to help every child and every family rest easier.
