To all Parents, Educators, and Advocates

We are pleased to invite you to watch the replay of our recent webinar on Understanding Dyslexia. This webinar is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of dyslexia, including its causes, symptoms, and impact on individuals, families, and society.

Overview

Dyslexia is a neurological condition that affects the ability to read, write, and spell. It is not related to intelligence, but rather to the way the brain processes language. Individuals with dyslexia may have difficulty recognizing words, decoding text, and/or spelling. They may also struggle with phonological awareness, phonics, and reading fluency.

To recognize dyslexic learning patterns, some signs may include: difficulty decoding words, slow reading, difficulty with phonological awareness, difficulty with phonics, difficulty with reading fluency, and difficulty with spelling.

Objectives for the “Understanding Dyslexia” webinar:

1. To provide a comprehensive understanding of what dyslexia is and its characteristics.

2. To teach participants how to recognize dyslexic learning patterns in children and adults and to understand the common difficulties faced by individuals with dyslexia.

3. To explore the various support options available across the lifespan for individuals with dyslexia, including educational accommodations, assistive technology, and other interventions.

4. To introduce participants to the concept of evidence-based practice and the importance of using research-supported interventions when working with individuals with dyslexia.

5. To provide participants with practical strategies and resources to support individuals with dyslexia in the classroom, at work, and in daily life.

6. To raise awareness about dyslexia and to promote a better understanding of the needs of individuals with dyslexia, so that they can be supported and included in the community.

7. To encourage the participants to take action and start using the knowledge they have gained during the webinar in their own practice, whether they are parents, educators, or professionals working with individuals with dyslexia.
