Sofia is an Educational Psychologist working at the Developing Child Centre in Dubai, UAE. She graduated from Leiden University in the Netherlands having obtained a Masters in Child & Adolescent Psychology, a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Forensic Psychology from The University of York in the UK, and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Athens in Greece.
She completed the advanced degree of Rational-Emotive and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents from the Hellenic Institute of RECBT, having gained experience in helping teens who struggle with everyday difficulties –emotional disturbance, social anxiety, executive functioning challenges, and academic underachievement.
In addition to her clinical work, Sofia has extensive experience in assessing a spectrum of clinical and subclinical challenges – General and Specific Learning Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder among others.
She has an interest in developing safe and supportive school communities and in her role as a European Union researcher she helped develop a curriculum for educators on how to reduce the phenomenon of bullying in schools. Sofia’s main focus is the conduction and interpretation of psychological assessments, as well as the provision of psychotherapeutic support in order to help teens reach their full potential and lead a mentally healthy lifestyle.
Since 2020, Sofia is an EdD student with a focus on Educational Psychology.
